Floating sculptural Stairs

Floating sculptural Stairs

These floating stair treads are made out Black walnut and Ash, there is a metal structure fixed into the wall that supports each of the treads. The sculptural treads are then applied to the metal supports to give the floating effect.

An excellent collaboration between Waywood, client and numerous professionals  to achieve the desired effect.

The handrail was made out of Black Walnut and Ash with tensioned wire supports.

We took some of the shapes that were used on the stair-treads to create this complementary piece.

Staircase Sculpture

Staircase Sculpture

This sculpture was created between two flights of stairs to create a safety barrier as well as the focal point of the room, they are made out of two layers of shaped chestnut uprights that pick up on the movement of reedbeds in the river that runs adjacent to the property.

This was made for a private house in Spain for a longstanding customer. The design developed over a series of meetings between ourselves and the client to create this stunning piece which stands over 6m in height.
