This chest is made from some rippled (=curly) maple
we imported directly from a supplier in America. It is rare enough
over there, but almost unheard of in this country except as veneer
or in tiny quantities for musical instruments etc.
We have deep-cut it and laminated it onto cedar of
Lebanon before constructing the chest. It is quite normal for us to
use a cedar bottom in a chest to give the interior a pleasant and
moth-repellant smell, but to create a complete lining in cedar
boosts this to quite a heady level of aroma. It would therefore be
very suitable for blankets etc, or simply to keep handy for a quick
sniff!

ensures ecologically sound sourcing, without which we do not use
tropical woods. |
